June, 2013

The Folk Spec Project started January 2013. We purchased a lot in the South Side of Durango and decided to build a small, single family dwelling that fit into the style of the neighborhood. We were proud of the quality finishes provided at a price comparable with the surrounding real estate of much older homes. These finishes included solid oak flooring, reclaimed oak interior doors, granite countertops with beautiful coffee colored cabinets, expanding foam insulation, and stucco exterior.
A young couple purchased the home completed in June 2013 and have plans to build a garage with accessory dwelling unit above.
The plans for the home and garage were designed by John with his CAD program. Approval for the garage required a parking variance by the city for 5 instead of 6 parking spaces. John worked with the city planners and the variance board to have this vital component passed.
